You can decide how long you want the exchange to last and when the visits should take place. It is often recommended for the exchanges to be spread over two holidays rather than 4 weeks back to back. Usually visits occur during the school holidays however on occasion, provided schools are happy, we have placed children with families during the school term. Unaccompanied children - please check with the travel operator on their rules concerning unaccompanied children. In some instances, you will be asked to provide a letter giving permission for your child to travel alone. In particular, please check the restrictions for sending children under 14 years old. Some operators do not allow them to travel unaccompanied. Your child must have a European Heath Card before they travel. This can be collected free of charge from post offices. Don't forget your passport! You can apply for a passport via www.ukpa.gov.uk Before your visit, you may wish to correspond with your exchange friend to build up your friendship.
